Unfortunately, I give this architect a big fail, so 1 out of 5. Our experiences with Berkein Architectenburo BVBA in Destelbergen are extremely disappointing. First of all, the municipal requirements for the environmental permit were not met, which resulted in a missing emergency overflow at the infiltration well. As a result, we have been dealing with PFAS-contaminated groundwater for years, which also caused damage to our inland water system. In addition, there are structural problems with rising groundwater, because plastering was done under the water barrier. Even with clear moisture measurements, the architect remained in denial mode. In terms of communication, the architect rarely responded to our complaints and when he did respond, the answers were evasive and unprofessional. Another shocking error is the upside-down facade brick, which shows how inaccurate and of poor quality the work was carried out. An absolute no-go!
