This review is very extensive and detailed, but a lot went wrong with Mec Decor, and it was a real ordeal. Please read this review in full and never choose this company! In short, communication was very difficult. The company was often unavailable, emails were rarely responded to, and far too late. The representative, who is normally the first point of contact, was never available but kept promising to call back but rarely did. No site inspection during the work. Workers were completely inattentive. Poor execution of the work. The work was supposed to start on August 25, 2025. On Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 9:15 PM, I received a text message stating that the work could not start because the supplier was having problems and the goods were not arriving in Belgium. It was then supposed to start on September 1, 2025, after many calls back and forth and threats of default. From September 1st to 3rd, there was asphalt paving work in the street. Announced only a week in advance, they had to move 100 meters away, but unloading was allowed before 7:30 a.m. The company didn't like that and decided to start on September 3rd, 2025. That day, they unloaded the insulation there and left. I was very surprised to see that the insulation came from a Belgian company... They finally started on September 4th, 2025, but they weren't the friendliest people, and communicating in Dutch was a real challenge. On Friday, September 5th, 2025, the men called it a day at 2 p.m. Normally, scaffolding was supposed to be up by September 1st, 2025, but it didn't show up either. According to the manager, a friend of his from abroad was going to take care of it. I then arranged the scaffolding myself, which cost me only half of what the company quoted for it! It was installed on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, even though the ground floor work wasn't even half finished. On Monday, September 8, 2025, no one showed up, and for once, the company and the manager were unavailable. Work continued at a leisurely pace with the necessary breaks until Thursday, September 11, 2025. I explained three times, using a detailed drawing, where the mounting points for the air conditioning units should be, and even then, it wasn't correct, even though the tradesman had the brackets with him and could fit them perfectly. On Thursday evening, September 11, 2025, I asked how much longer they had work to do. The man, who spoke a little Dutch, said two more days, but Friday, September 12, 2025, they were supposed to apply some filler, and then they would have to wait for at least four dry days before they could continue. That Friday, work was as good as ever, and the facades were almost ready for primer. On Monday, September 15, 2025, I received an interim invoice that didn't include the costs I incurred for the scaffolding and the unnecessary parking ban I had during the first week, and which I promised would be reimbursed. They eventually corrected this by sending a registered letter listing all my complaints and mistakes and asking me to provide them with all photos of the errors, etc. The weather changed with rain almost every day for 14 days, preventing any work. From September 23, it remained dry, but I heard nothing from the company. An email to the planning department on September 24 went unanswered. On September 25, I called from a different number after my number was still unanswered. They didn't know of any email, but were promised they would resume work on September 29. They're true liars; when I called from my number, no one answered. When I called from a different number, someone answered immediately. When I confronted them about not answering my number, I was told they were busy and couldn't see caller IDs. Normally, you get a busy signal when the line is busy; after calling five times, I got the usual answering machine. Shortly after, however, I received a call from the company on a different number they didn't recognize. On September 29th, they restarted the job and did the crêpe. The color wasn't the one I'd chosen, but cleverly, they didn't include the color number on the quote I signed. They simply used the same color everywhere, because they arrived with five buckets and took three full ones back. If you know how many square meters you need to cover, you know how many buckets you need and won't buy double. When they're finished, I do my inspection round and notice several shortcomings and errors. A hole in the crêpe is attributed to the curved wall. The curve in the wall runs the full height, and there's a hole of approximately 30cm in diameter, 25cm above the ground and 50cm below. This is entirely due to poor workmanship, but according to the workers, nothing can be done about it. They return on October 2nd to install the skirting board. Because the floor has a 2cm drainage over its entire length, they don't understand how to get a straight line. I'm asked to decide how they should draw the line on the wall, as the skirting board wouldn't be the same height everywhere, and they think there would be a slanted line at the top. I explain to them that they need to draw a line 30cm along the entire length with the spirit level. They don't understand. I demonstrate it, and then they get it. The end result looks good from a distance, but up close, you can see several uneven areas in the crêpe and, in one place, even a real hole. The points where the scaffolding was anchored have been sloppily reworked. After everything was finished, one of the workers had to call the company, but it took half an hour and four attempts to get through because the answering machine kept going. I was asked to speak to someone who claimed to be in charge of site supervision. They asked if everything was in order. I gave my comments, and a lengthy discussion ensued between the worker and the site supervisor. Finally, I had to be called back, and they told me a visit would be made to inspect everything. On 7-10, I called the company to ask where the site supervisor was. After being put on hold for a while, I was told it would be by 10-10. On 10-10, the man arrived and inspected the work, requested a large slat, and inspected the wall in several places after I pointed out bumps and a hole in the plaster. Photos were taken of all the sloppiness and deficiencies. My comment about updating the holes in the scaffolding anchors was dismissed as normal; you'd see that happening all the time, everywhere. I'd never seen anything like it before! I was told I'd know what was happening by October 15th. I asked to please deliver the final invoice as soon as possible. Still no news on October 17th, and I called the company three times at different times throughout the day, but once again I couldn't reach them, and they just kept answering the usual answering machine. On October 20th, I finally managed to reach someone. I got the number of the site manager to ask him what was still to be done. He promised to return as soon as the weather permitted and if I let him know the roof had been replaced, to fix all the problems. He said the hole would be impossible to repair, and that a commercial discount would be given for that. Since I didn't notice any damage after the roofing work was completed, I decided to email the company, proposing to waive the remaining invoice as compensation for everything that had been poorly done, and that no one else would need to come in to fix anything. A few days later, they confirmed their agreement, and a few days later, they sent me the certificate to apply for the subsidy. The fact that they agreed, and even dared to write, "Final invoice €xxx not payable and will be used as compensation for all facade defects," speaks volumes!

I had a particularly bad experience with MEC Decor during the facade renovation of our house in Zottegem (EPS insulation and a finish with sprayed cork and stone strips). I'm sharing this so that anyone reading this can make an informed decision. 1. Poor follow-up and planning. According to the quote, the work would take three weeks and be completed by the end of February 2025. In reality, they didn't start until the end of February and didn't finish until early July—19 weeks after the start. 2. Failure to deliver what was promised. • The quote stated that an ATG-approved facade insulation system from Caparol would be used. In practice, however, other materials were used, meaning the ATG warranty conditions were not met, even though this was explicitly promised in the quote. • It was promised in advance that all facade components (lighting, electrical outlets, etc.) would be dismantled and reassembled. In reality, I had to reinstall everything myself. 3. Unclear and inefficient subcontractor structure. I had a contract with MEC Decor, which engaged a Flemish subcontractor, who in turn had a French-speaking subcontractor, who ultimately managed a Macedonian team. This led to a complete lack of communication: agreements were not honored, and communication with the contractors was virtually impossible due to language barriers. 4. Inadequate craftsmanship. The spray cork was clearly not applied by a certified or experienced installer. The contractors were only given a brief demonstration by the Flemish subcontractor, which he himself confirmed. The result clearly shows that the installers lacked the necessary knowledge or experience. The finishing with stone slips is also of questionable quality. 5. Poor workmanship and defects. The facade exhibits countless visible errors, sloppiness, and carelessness. This lack of professionalism even led the Flemish subcontractor to discontinue the collaboration with the Macedonian team. Another team later attempted to mitigate the damage. They were professional, explicitly apologized, and confirmed that certain errors were irreparable. Conclusion: MEC Decor didn't deliver what was promised, communication was chaotic, and the quality of workmanship was substandard to unacceptable. I would advise caution before doing business with this company.

Almost no communication possible. Always an answering machine. They make you believe all sorts of things when drawing up the quote, which later turns out to be wrong. Working with a subcontractor who has hardly any information about the works.

Start of work in September 2022, worked for 1 week and then disappeared for 6 weeks.

Start of work in September 2022, worked for 1 week and then disappeared for 6 weeks. Ultimately the crepi was installed, but the side wall was poorly done. Admit the mistake and will fix it... Haven't heard from them for 9 months, don't respond to emails or telephone, bluestone not installed, facade not repaired, no file regarding insulation received. No response to notice of default...their statement is still here a year after it started. Communication in Dutch is almost impossible.

Poor agreements and communication, works with personnel who have insufficient experience (subcontracting in subcontracting, technically not followed up.

Bad agreements and communication, works with staff who have insufficient experience (and cannot communicate in Dutch, subcontracting in subcontracting, technical follow-up is not followed up ... e-mails are not answered and on the phone they shrug you off ... at the first implementation they were weeks late and it was already about the additional price without a quote and this continues. The salesman and technical advisor no longer work for them and believe that it is no longer up to them to follow up as they do their business We have been waiting for months for further finishing of the facade, so far only a first layer of cement has been put on the insulation and nothing else, when will they continue the work is a mystery???

This company works with staff who know nothing about it . Very bad finish . Works started in 2020 and not yet in order. Make appointments and don't show up. Representative promises a lot but things don't come right. I don't understand that such companies are allowed to continue to exist .. very untrustworthy !!!!!!!!¡
