An apartment by the sea: how to furnish and decorate in 1-2_3!
How about enjoying the perfect sun-sea-beach feeling in your own seaside apartment? Great, but even greater if your interior fits in! Luckily, decorating your apartment by the sea isn’t that difficult. Go ahead with these tips & tricks!
Let there be light
Natural sunlight
Rule number 1: let the sunlight in! Large windows are an absolute must have in your seaside apartment. When your place is located on the seafront, the wonderful view is a nice bonus!
But what makes light so important? It makes your place look bigger and creates an open feeling. Many, large windows are what you need!
Evening lighting
No matter ho many windows your apartment has got, in the evening, you will need some extra lighting. LED strips and indirect lighting add a lot of cosiness to your interior. On certain places in the house, you even need more light, such as the kitchen or next to the sofa. In that case, a floor lamp is the way to go.
Bright colours from top to bottom
But of course, there are other ways to avoid a dark apartment. By giving your walls, floors and furniture a bright(er) tone. Think of white, cream or pastel tones. Light blue too, because of its seaside vibes, is a very nice colour to use in your seaside apartment. Finalyy, furniture in a light wooden tone are a great idea to add some character and cosiness to your place.
Multifunctional and floating furniture
An apartment isn’t always that spacious. Not enough space for your furniture? No problem! Multifunctional furniture will do the trick! A couch to store your blankets, an open foldable table… You have everything you need without losing space. The more you can see the surface, the bigger your apartment will look.
Another tip: furniture with legs. If your sofa or cabinets are directly on the floor, they ‘break’ the room and make it look smaller. Moreover, this way, everything is just a little bit more on trend.
Is your apartment by the sea your second home? In that case, you might be less willing to buy new, expensive furniture. That’s your choice, and as long as everything matches, there is no problem. You can, for example, pimp your furniture to make it fit together. Or why not visit a flea market or second hand sore?
