Found some treasures? Let’s value them!
Chances are you don’t go up to the attic every week, or even every month. Whenever you do go up, there is probably something that’s about to happen: the big spring cleaning, moving out, helping out others to move… Whatever the situation is, it’s not the most attractive place to be. But that doesn’t mean you should throw away everything that’s up there. Chances are there are undiscovered treasures which are worth more than you know. No clue if that’s the case? Have them appraised online!
Which treasures hide on your attic?
You cannot expect finding kilograms of gold or silver under the roof, but it is worthwhile looking for jewelry you didn’t know you still had. ‘Old’ and ‘ugly’ stuff, like a lamp or a little sculpture can be worth way more than you think.
Discovered a stack of ‘old paper’? Don’t burn it right away, but take your time to take a closer look at it. There is market for vintage design or fashion magazines, and buyers are willing to pay a lot of money for them. The same goes for ancient posters. If you find a cardboard tube on the attic, you might be a lucky guy!
At last, vintage sports stuff can be a hit! Maybe you still have an old bicycle, a wooden tennis racket or a leather hockey helmet?
What are they worth?
But sometimes, it’s not what you expected… that beautiful old vase you found is worthless, but that ugly mirror is sold for more than €300. No clue what your ‘treasures’ are worth? You’re not the only one! It’s not easy to value all this stuff. And the internet won’t help either…: wrong or incomplete information can make you believe the best, but ending up turning out being worthless.
Do you want to be sure your old postcards, wine bottles or car are valued correctly? Look for an auction house or a local art dealer. They know exactly how much will be paid for a certain piece. That way, you can be assured. Good luck!
